Currently I’m having issues with inventory management (for paint) and was wondering “could there be a way to make an entire warehouse rack function as a scale”? If so, could any of you guys give me some first steps on where/how to start for this project? I’ve included a picture of the racks in my warehouse enter image description here

Please edit your question and add how this is related to Raspberry Pi. Also, what are you really asking? Why can’t you just put normal scales under each leg of the rack? – Botspot 11 hours ago

Hi @refinish_developer, Welcome and nice to meet you. Ah let me see. You warehouse smart weighing rack sounds interesting. I would suggest to getting started with AdaFruit and SparkFun tutorials: (1) “AdaFruit Force-Sensitive Resistor – US$7”: adafruit.com/product/166, (2) “AdaFruit Force-Sensitive Resistor – US$9”: adafruit.com/product/1075, (3) “SparkFun Load Cell Amplifier HX711 Breakout Hookup Guide”: learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/…, / to continue, … – tlfong01 11 hours ago

You can start with YouTube tutorials: (4) Youtube Tutorial: How to make a weighing scale with the HX711, a load cell and an Arduino | UATS A&S #14 youtube.com/watch?v=S12Mp8gDJmI. Everybody is using the HX711. Here is the datasheet. You can find libraries for this HX711. (5) “HX711 24-Bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for Weigh Scales – Avia”: cdn.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Sensors/ForceFlex/hx711_english.pdf. Cheers. – tlfong01 11 hours ago

You might like to read some of my old posts on Rpi based HX711 smart scales: (6) “HX711 Weight Scale DIY”: raspberrypi.org/forums/…. Cheers. – tlfong01 11 hours ago

  • I read my old posts to refresh my memory. I now recall that the small digital scale I hacked is only US$2, and even 200kg bit body scales from TaoBao (AliExpress) are also dirt cheap, under US$5. So I found tearing down the scales, and extracting the Wheatstone and HX711 signal out with long wires to Rpi saves much time DIY your own. – tlfong01 10 hours ago
